Rugs are a great way to update and refresh a room. Pendle Village has the North-West’s largest rug store emporium – whether you are looking for a luxury sheepskin to create a cosy space, or a hallway runner to add character and flow between spaces. Our experts can advise you on rug sizes, shapes, colours and textures to help you design your rooms. This is a small online selection from our rug department, please visit our store to shop more rugs.

We have plain rugs, patterned rugs, traditional rugs, modern rugs, animal print rugs, shaggy rugs, moroccan rugs, turkish rugs, cow hide rugs – the list is endless, we have a rug for every floor!

What size should I buy?

No matter which room you are buying a rug for it should make a statement – one of the biggest mistakes is buying a rug that is too small. Here are a few tips to help you decide what size is the right size for you.

Typically, rugs run the length of the sofa and more, so make sure the rug is at least 6 inches wider than your sofa on both sides. Only the front part of the sofa or front legs of chairs should sit on the rug, this makes your room feel more spacious, even if it’s not.

If you have a larger room with many pieces of furniture, we recommend choosing an extra large rug and placing the furniture on the rug – this is an effective way of creating a more intimate area in a large space

Once you have an idea of where the rug will be placed, a great and easy tip is to use masking tape to map out the rug size and shape to get a sense of how it will look and feel in the room, and amongst your furniture.

Did you know you can also layer rugs if you find the right pairings, this is a fun way of adding multiple textures, colours and patterns to your floors. Try a cowhide, mixed with a sheepskin for a chic and cosy finish!
